Lenten Resources for Families
Lent is a season of preparation and examination. What in our lives is pulling us away from God? What brings us closer?
It begins with Ash Wednesday, when we face the reality of our mortality, and we spend the season following Christ to the cross. This is hard for US to grasp and process, much less children.
Now that we have buried our Alleluias, burned our palms, and imposed those ashes on our foreheads, how do we observe Lent as a family?
We have compiled some resources to help you out, and we have MANY more on our our Pinterest Board.
Whatever you take on or give up, remember that drawing closer to God is our purpose. As Kathy Pfister said in her sermon on Ash Wednesday, we don't have to live someone else's Lent.

Need Lenten Discipline Ideas?: I really like some of these out-of-the-box ideas. Don't gossip? Don't buy things you don't NEED? Awesome. I did the latter for several years during Lent - it is great to do with kids!
Lent Calendar: These can be fun to help track the 40 days of Lent as a family. Do a Google Image Search, and you will find lots of options. Some, like this one, offer activities for every day. Others track the season and let you choose how to observe it. The visual reminder helps us all to remember to observe the season in some way.
Lent Activity Book for children ages 4-7 (though I think kids younger and older would like some of the activities also).
The authors designed this specifically for Anglican families, so the theology is solid, in addition to the activities being fun and thoughtful. It has specific activities to be done for each week of Lent. Activities include coloring, word finds, crosswords, connect the dots, etc.
