Welcome Mike Peterson to Good Shepherd
Mike is a cradle-born Episcopalian with a life-long passion for church and its ministries. He was born and raised in North Carolina, where he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in history and religious studies. Mike has been involved in Episcopal youth ministries for the entirety of his adult life, both as a professional musician and, for the last five years, as Director of Youth Ministries at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church in Marietta, Georgia. Prior to his tenure at St. Catherine’s, Mike worked for the Episcopal Community Services of Louisiana in New Orleans rebuilding houses that had been affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which is where he met his wife, Mary Bess. |
We are excited to announce that Mike Peterson will be joining our staff as Youth and Family Minister.
He will be working with Aimee Bostwick, our Director of Family Ministries, with a focus on youth. His skills and experience in youth ministry and music will be fantastic additions to our already strong team. He and Aimee worked together on several diocesan conventions, so they will bring that collaborative relationship to our parish. Mike will be at Kanuga when our youth trip is there, and he will begin his ministry on our campus July 1. |
Mike is a passionate musician and music lover. He also enjoys cooking, reading, the outdoors, all things related to the UNC Tar Heels, travel, the city of New Orleans, keeping in touch with his family in North Carolina, and spending time with his wife and their cat, Winston. Mike is excited to join the team at Good Shepherd and looks forward to sharing in the incredible ministry here. We can’t wait for you to meet Mike! |
